SCOPE: Aeronautical, Aerospace and aircraft maintenance engineering
Aeronautical Engineering course trains an engineer in designing, constructing, analyzing, testing, development and manufacturing of commercial and military aircrafts, missiles, and spacecrafts. Aeronautics focuses on systems that operate in the Earth's atmosphere and Astronautics on those operating in space.
· A student from the science stream with a minimum of 50% in the 12th std is eligible to join the course in almost every college.
· There is distinct difference between aerospace/aeronautical engineering and aircraft maintenance engineering. The former is a degree course and teaches designing and manufacturing of the aircraft, while the latter teaches the servicing the aircraft for its proper functioning
· Aeronautical Engineering is offered by the Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai, Mumbai, Kanpur and Kharagpur and also by the Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. The Madras Institute of Technology offers a three year Graduate Programme in Aeronautical Engineering for B Sc students, subject to their having passed Maths and Physics at the graduation stage. The Indian Institute of Science (IIS), Bangalore has M Tech and Ph D programmes in Aeronautics.
But the Bombay Flying Club is the only institute in the West Zone to offer a course in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.
· SCOPE: Four major divisions exist in the Aeronautics side of the Aerospace Industry: military aircraft, civilian aircraft, aircraft engines, and missile systems. Following are the few places these engineers can look forward for their employment. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, DRDO, Air India, Indian Airlines, ISRO.
· There are limited opportunities in this branch, therefore a large number take Research and development areas in Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Civil Aviation, Defense Laboratories or Civil Aviation departments. DATES for application and any other information are available on college prospects or you can search it on net.
